I grew up going to church in a denomination that never studied or talked about Jesus’ second coming. Aside from that I really didn’t have faith and ended up being a bit of a prodigal and was influenced by some deceivers, one in particular, even to to point of believing in some New Age teachings. When I came to faith in Christ after college and largely through the faithfulness of my wive, he gave me a passion to learn the truth. From a purely human perspective, give what I have been through I didn’t want to be deceived again!
Regardless of the motive, I delved into the Bible for myself. At first, the whole New Testament on cassette tape while delivering pizzas in a small town/rural area and considerable portions of the Old Testament at home. From that study, I gained an understanding of the plan of salvation, and learned what seemed to me an unambiguous plan of Jesus’ Second Coming. Eventually I progressed through the rest of the Bible and it did not dramatically change my understanding but certainly deepened it. Along the way I’ve encountered some teachings that caused me to make some modifications of my understanding of eschatology but mostly, I encountered teachings that did not make sense, ignoring some obvious biblical teachings and weaving in explanations that as Paul says “tickle their ears” (NASB)
Given that my understanding is not the most popular paradigm accepted in the churches I’ve worshiped in, my conversations about the topic rarely lasts more than 20 seconds. This website, inspired by my son’s website and his help in creating it has given me a chance to put the essential precepts of my teaching down in one place. Now people who quickly reject my teaching can do so and I won’t even know. Alternatively, I they find it worth considering they can learn it and share with others.
One other thing you may notice is that I am not very talented in writing and editing. Please forgive any unclear or run on sentences that this site will undoubtedly have. If you can glean an understanding of which I believe is not to mysterious of a topic I will be blessed.
Other biographical information about me beyond not being a writer is that I went to school for electrical engineering but couldn’t find work in the mid 1980’s and ended up working as medical technologist. I set up people for tests using EEG electrodes and I am blessed with an extended period of time with my patients as I’m wiring them up. I’ve had more eschatological conversations with my patient’s than I have with fellow church members. (I get more than 20 seconds! They are kind of a captive audience though.)
I hope you are blessed reading the website and your own Bible and keep trusting in Jesus. He keeps his promises. He tells us in Matt 28:20
“… and lo, I am with you always, even unto the end of the age”
